You can plan your tour according to the Indian States and make sure you are visiting nearby states in one tour for easy commuting. New Delhi is the Capital of India and is commonly referred as Delhi. Tea Tourism in India

 India is a Tea (also known as Chai) loving Country in two ways. It is World’s second largest Tea producing Country and largest Tea consuming Country. Whatever Tea India produces, 70% of that is for internal consumption within the Country. Tea Tourism in India in getting much popularity it deserves. Yes, we all love Tea! J
The Main types of Tea produce in India is Black, Green, White, Oolong, and CTC. The most common and main variety produced and consumed in India is the Black Tea. 


Assam is the largest Tea producing region in the Country mainly for Black Tea and another special thing about Assam is that it the only place apart from China, where the Tea plants have their origin. It is the North East state of India and popular because of Tea plantations as old as 100 years! Banyan Grove, Wild Mahseer are some famous Tea estates to visit in this place. A Tea festival in Assam every November is well-known.


This is a Hill Station in Kerala State of India and Kenan Devan Hills is a large Tea Plantation over here. This place is known for Tea Tourism and has a Tea museum. Multiple Hotels are there and Homestay is also possible at Munnar. This is the largest Tea plantation in the Southern part of India. Wayanad is another City in Kerala known for Tea plantations. 


Darjeeling is yet another World Famous Tea plantation destination in India producing mainly Black Tea. Glenburn Tea Estate is known for Tea tourism. Along with the beautiful plantations, you get breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga mountain ranges and the Himalayas. Being a famous tourist place, there are many more fun activities at Darjeeling. Happy Valley Tea estates is another place to visit in Darjeeling. 

Nilgiri Mountain ranges

The Nilgiri district of Tamil Nadu is a South Indian destination for Tea Plantations is also a hill station. This place is also producing Tea for more than 100 years.

Kangra Valley

This valley in the Himachal Pradesh also produces specific varieties of Tea and if you are visiting Himachal Pradesh, visiting Dharamshala Tea Company gardens Dharamshala may be a good idea. The ‘Darang Tea estate’ is another Tea plantation over here which is in existence for 150 years. The Tea gardens are also there in entire Palampur area of Himachal Pradesh state. Tea Tourism in India has its roots in Himalaya also.

There are more Tea gardens and Tea plantations in India but I have the list of major ones over here. Each Tea plantation has a different variety of Tea and whole leaf tea is the most in demand. The final Tea product is sold as loose leaf Tea or Tea Bags and CTC production involves using machines but the real taste lies with Black, Green, White and Oolong whole leaf tea.

Visiting these Tea plantations is an exciting experience. We can see that the Tea plantations are in Himachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu; so Tea Tourism in India is another way to explore India!

At present, ‘Gatimaan Express’ is the fastest train in India which runs between Delhi and Agra. The maximum speed of this train is 160 kilometers per hour. The ‘Bhopal Shatabdi Express’ is second fastest train India with a slight difference in the maximum speed. The ‘Vivek Express’ running between Dibrugarh to Kanyakumari is currently the longest train route in India. It connects Dibrugarh in Assam & Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of Mainland India. The journey is of 85 hours on a 3715 km railway route.

India is a vast Country and is spread across 3.287 million km2 area. India has 29 states and 7 Union Territories. It is very well connected by a Countywide Train network. You can travel across the Country using Public Transport (State Government Buses). The bus transport is also a good option for Cheap Travelling or budget travel within the States and the interior places.
Though every single state has tourist places, if you are keen on visiting the most famous tourist places in India, there are few states to visit. Railway network connects to all states and all metros.

Key Tourist States

Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Goa, and Kerala are the states which normally all tourists like to visit. It depending on the season they visit India, but it doesn’t mean you can ignore other states. Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are very close to Himalaya mountains. Goa is famous for its beaches, great resorts, and seafood. Kerala (God’s Own Country) is a green state with a lot of coconut trees, Tea plantation, calm beaches & Ayurvedic Centres. Special advice for foreigners

Travelling by Train to major Railway Stations in India like from one State to another is easiest and cheapest. Once you go to a particular state and want to travel interiors of the State, Bus Transport or Taxi could be a better option. Near all major tourist attractions, you will find comfortable hotels. If you are travelling from another Country, prefer a 3-star, 4-star or 5-star hotel to meet the basic expectations you will have from a good hotel.

Air travel is also affordable and if the Train is going to take more than 8 hours, you nay go with Air Travel if the budget allows. Select Shivneri Bus service (operated by State Transport) in Maharashtra State or other Volvo State Transport buses for a comfortable journey. These buses cost more than the regular state transport buses, but if you are visiting from any other Country, they are not very costly. Cheap Travelling in India is not difficult if you get a proper guidance.

Whether you are an Indian or a visitor to India, I am sure you know about Ajanta and Ellora caves. These are indeed major tourist attractions and famous archaeological sites near the Aurangabad City of Maharashtra State. But once you see the caves, what you remember permanently is the Art & Craft! You will remember the paintings, carvings on the wall and sculptures for all your life. Handicraft is a key art in Indian culture.
Handcrafted CamelArt and Craft are not just topics of discussion and to be taught in Schools and Colleges in India. These are part of life ana a major Industry as well. Every state in India has something specialty.  The traditional Craft is producing over there for years and years. It could be machine made or hand made but the items made are still of the export quality. Though each state has their own hand-craft items on sale in their state emporium, Assam and Rajasthan produce more of these items. You will have specialties from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Utter Pradesh also.

Handcrafted ElephantAs you start travelling in the interior of different States, you will realise that small towns and villages also have their own unique way of making particular items and the places are famous because of these items. The items could be clothing, earthen pots, show pieces, utensils, toys, purses and handbags or even nicely crafted stationery. No doubt the tourists from different countries buy these beautifully crafted items back home as memories of visiting India but when India tourists travel to different states, they also get attracted towards the local craft shops.
